Interpersonal speaking is such a key component of the world language classroom, and it can also be the most challenging, especially as a new teacher and in lower levels. This session will be all about how to structure and encourage frequent and consistent interpersonal speaking between students as well as between students and teachers in a world language classroom. This includes chat maps, scaffolding with sentence frames/starters, how to build towards proficiency throughout the unit, how to grade on the rubrics, and how to promote equity of participation. We will also discuss how consistency with this can help support overall classroom management with routine building. I'll bring the ready-to-use and easily adaptable formats for immediate application and you bring the questions!
